- Although we may be at opposite ends of the political spectrum, George F. Will and I agree on one thing, “Baseball is wonderful,” as expressed in this opinion piece in the Washington Post by none other than Ken Burns, who used Will — among many others — as talking heads on his seminal Baseball miniseries. Will, of course, wrote on the the greatest analyses of the game with his 1990 masterpiece, Men at Work: The Craft of Baseball.
- Brooks Robinson, Hall of Famer… and copy editor? Apparently so.
- In this contentious period of book banning and revisionist history, I found this piece — “Baseball’s Hall of Fame makes me feel weird” — by Zac Zwaschka of the Madison (SD) Daily Leader — quite pertinent.
- Scott Longert, author of Love and Loss: The Short Life of Ray Chapman, will speak at the Speak at Daviess County Public Library on Monday, January 11.
- Former Fox Sports North host Robby Incmikoski, who left the station for a job in Pittsburgh, is now adding the title of writer/author to his resume. Incmikoski announced that in the year since he was let go by the NESN network, he will be releasing a baseball coffee table book about his adventures across Major League Baseball.
