More on Tyler Kepner’s new book:
- From the Washington Post, this review
- An video interview with Nestor, a very enthusiastic Baltimore-based sportscaster

There are dozens of titles about individual world series — the 1919 Black Sox Scandal immediately comes to mind — and lately it seems like local newspapers will rush to publish a commemorative book or magazine heralding the city’s heroes. I’m not going to list those in this entry. Rather the handful here are about the overall history of the event. Note that many of these came out around the 100th anniversary of the first World Series in 1903.
- The World Series: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Fall Classic
- World Series: An Opinionated Chronicle (my opinionated favorite)
- 100 Years of the World Series
- The World Series: A History of Baseball’s Fall Classic
- The World Series: A complete pictorial history (I would point out here the folly of the title. The book came out in 1972. Obviously it can’t be “complete” until there are no more. Just sayin’.)
